We had friends over from Australia and took them to Cornwall and a stay at Rooke Country Cottages. We have stayed a number of times before and knew the standards would be excellent. On this occasion we were in The Courtyard. A large cottage of high quality. Probably some of the best self catering accommodation available in Cornwall. The bedrooms are generous in size, all have flat screen tv’s and extermely comfortable beds.
The views from Courtyard and wonderful, and the cottage benefits from a large deck that over looks the rolling countryside. Also a great place for sundowners in the evening…We will certainly be returning to Rooke Country Cottages, and would highly recommend a stay.

Booked the Honeysuckle cottage for a week. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who gave us a quick tour of the cottage. Even provided milk in the fridge and a full Cornish cream tea to start off on the right foot. The cottage only sleeps 2 but was generously sized with a great range of facilities such as 2 TV’s DVD player and DAB radio.
Everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. one nice touch was the CCTV feed from the barn of a pair of Barn Owls…Overall a well run and presented venue very handy for all Cornish attractions.

Rooke cottages are situated just outside the very small village of Chapel Amble. The village itself has a post office, a pottery and a pub – more like a restaurant. Unlike many parts of Cornwall however, the cottages are easy to get to, if you pick your route you can get there without any single track road except for the last little bit.
The cottages themselves are on a farm but not the sort of farm with wandering cattle or dirt. There is an owl cam in an old barn which was very popular with my 4 teenage guests. We did see the owl via the TV in our cottage.
We had Meadow cottage which is for 6 people and the space was fine. We also had a small dog in our party who was catered for by a fenced/walled garden which also had sunloungers, a bbq, table and chairs and a sand pit for small children. Inside the cottage was up to date and the kitchen, TV nad Hifi all equipped with modern appliances. The decor and furniture was all neutral and the carpet looked pretty new. The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels all good quality. There were nice touches – dishwasher powder, washing up liquid and a mid week clean. The TV had a big pile of DVD’s and there were board games in the living room. A big plus was the wash and drying room for the wet suits which is open to all on site. There was also a large supply of wind breaks, body boards, outdoor coats and boots to be borrowed.

My husband and I have just returned from a week in North Cornwall, staying in Jasmine Cottage at Rooke Country Cottages. Chapel Amble is a tiny village 4 miles from Wadebridge, about 9 miles from Padstow and the cottages form part of a private farm on the Duchy of Cornwall estate.
Beautiful countryside, easy access to coastal walks and beaches, and excellent accommodation.
The property is really well furnished, there were new leather sofas and an LCD tv and dvd player. Jasmine Cottage is 2 bedrooms, king and a twin each en suite. It was immaculately clean and furnished with modern Laura Ashley fabrics (not chintzy!).
The woodburner is fantastic and the dishwasher makes for a relaxing evening cosying in by the fire! This is the first cottage we have stayed in where we actually wanted to stay in for the evening!
There is a children’s play area set away from the cottages, with wooden play equipment and resident guinea pigs. There is also a tv channel linked to a cctv camera at the farm showing a barn owl roost! We can’t recommend this place enough for a relaxing and very comfortable stay.

We stayed in Courtyard Cottage over the New Year. A wonderful comfortable cottage of very high standard, great space and a lovely kitchen in the centre. For our party of two families with young children; the space, layout and many facilities of the cottage on this lovely farm with playground we could not have found a better place to stay. Moreover the location was perfect for short trips to Port Isaac, Tintagel Castle, Rock, Padstow, Bodmin Moore and many more.

We stayed here when we had a 3 month old baby. Cottage was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. The local beach is beautiful and lots of local walks in the country. We did go out of season so had a lovely peaceful time.
