Magnolia Mania 2019 Caerhays Castle Cornwall

Did you know that in order for Spring to be officially announced in Cornwall, seven of the champion Magnolia Campbellii trees need at least 50 blooms? The seven trees can be found at Caerhays, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah, Tregothnan, Trengwainton, Trewidden and Trewithen. You can find out more about our gorgeous gardens at the Great Gardens of Cornwall website. It was officially declared on the 14th of February for 2019.

Magnolias are such a welcome sight in Cornwall, beckoning the arrival of warmer weather and longer days. The large star-like delicate blooms range from snow white to a rich purple and fill the spring air with a lovely scent, popping up in early spring and lasting until late summer – and even early autumn.

Closest to us is perhaps the magnificent Lanhydrock House. Maintained by the National Trust this Victorian mansion has tranquil gardens and acres of woodland, a joy to visit in Spring.

March can be magical in Cornwall, our luxury self-catering cottages each have their own private gardens with views of the rolling Duchy countyside. To book your dog friendly holiday, short break or romantic escape just click here.
