Cycle the Camel Trail in spring

April is here and Cornwall is looking lovely! The Easter holidays are a great time to get out with the family, and the Camel Trail can provide the perfect opportunity. If you are staying on our idyllic Duchy farm its about a 5 minute drive and you’re there.

So why do we recommend this special stretch of trail? Its beautiful!! You can cycle from Wadebridge towards the lovely Padstow, just over 5 miles, and enjoy an ice cream by the harbour, fantastic fish and chips looking across the estuary to Rock, or dine in style at Rick Stein’s famous restaurant.

Take the cycle route in the other direction and you reach Bodmin, 5.8 miles, the historic town sits on the edge of the atmospheric moors. Here you can see Bodmin jail, a place choc full of stories, wonder around the town, visit Cornwall’s Regimental Museum or see the trains at Bodmin’s steam railway. From there you can carry on to Wenfordbridge, where our scenic trail ends. A lovely pub to visit near here is the Blisland Inn. There are plenty of places to rent bikes in both Wadebridge and Padstow, catering for all types of need. Along the traffic free route, apart from stunning views, you can find some great places to eat, delicious pubs as well as the little cafes or pop ups along the trial.

The trail was once a railway line so is largely flat and weaves it way through some of the most scenic countryside Cornwall has to offer. If you want you can deviate from the route and explore the little villages and hamlets along the way. A perfect Spring adventure! Enjoy.
