Welcome to 2017! 5 / 1 / 2017

January walks in Cornwall

Oh what a beautiful day! A warm welcome to 2017, today it is clear, crisp and freezing! Need our top 5 things to do in Cornwall in January? Then read on…

1) Get out there! Nothing beats a coastal walk on a fresh and golden Cornish day. From Rooke Cottages you can stroll round our local village, Chapel Amble, our local pub is lovely. We are located in a perfect spot, take a short drive to some of Cornwall’s best coastal walks. Check out the walks mentioned here at Visit Cornwall (pictured Holywell Bay in snow).

2) Hot chocolate! Yep, you think we have great pubs, but we also have cafés with warm-up treats and breath-taking views.

3) Watch the sun rise! Its so much easier in the winter as the sun gets up about 8am. Grab a camera, wrap up warm and head the the beach for an awe-inspiring start to the day.

4) Take in a bit of history. With gems like the National Trust’s Lanhydrock House so close by with gardens, cycle trails and yummy food, you’d be silly not too. The full house isn’t open in January but the grounds are extensive and beautiful.

5) Go indoors. When the weather isn’t quite picture perfect then we suggest choosing one of Cornwall’s many attractions ideal for all weather fun. Explore the fishing villages with their little quaint shops, visit an art gallery, or for a bit of Cornish ‘Hygge’ stay in your gorgeous Rooke Holiday Cottage! After all on our farm we have Owl cam, peace and quite, private gardens and wood burning stoves! Who needs to go out. Order in from our brilliant Angels in the Kitchen and sit back and relax.
