Tis the season 4 / 11 / 2014

Happy shoppers at the Padstow Food Festival

We are looking ahead to the festive season, imagine holidaying in this beautiful county and getting your Christmas shopping done! There are some really lovely markets near Rooke Cottages. Heavily laden with Cornish produce, hand-made wares and Christmas gift ideas, a market can be a great place to spend a day. This area of Cornwall is famed for its food and drink and with all those tasters a market makes a great day out.

Here are a couple of markets you could enjoy on your visit:

Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair, Truro 26 – 30 November
Together with the City of Lights procession you will find a visit from Santa, his reindeer and an ice rink. The market itself will have artists, artisans, and food and drink producers, a great opportunity for some unique shopping.

Padstow Market runs from 04 – 07 December and promises to be a great event. With celebrity chefs as well as culinary delights, this very special festival, the biggest to date, will be a celebration of great food with Christmas entertainment and live music.

If markets are not your scene, how about watching Santas in training? The Santa Fun Runs are all across Cornwall, in Padstow you can see Santas running in aid of the Cornwall Hospice on the 6th of December at 1pm, there is even a cycle race from Wadebridge at 10am!

Too much festive excitement, well why not get out there and explore. The views along the coastline are always changing and when the sun shines (which it does even out of season!) you have your own piece of paradise. If all that fresh air is a little too bracing then you could find yourself a Cornish pub, warm yourself by the fire, try a local ale and watch the world go by. There really is no shortage of reasons to visit Cornwall this special season.
