March – the month for food 3 / 3 / 2015

This March Nathan Outlaw is opening in Port Isaac

The whole county is gearing up for Easter, it seems like the weather is on board too as the sun is beaming today. Easter is a great time to check out Cornwall, it is like the county wakes up like a flower opening a bloom.

March in particular is a great month in Cornwall for food. In our local Padstow Rick Stein’s pub the Cornish Arms is hosting a Beer and Mussel festival On 21st and 22nd March with what promises to be some great combinations. Stein says:

“March is the best month in the year for mussels, any time is good for proper beer brewed by people who love what they do. A big marquee next to our lovely pub with some great bands, a selection of 30 beers and some of my favourite mussel dishes; what could be a better combination on a weekend by the coast in Cornwall.”

Also happening this month we have the opening of Nathan Outlaw‘s new restaurant. He is relocating his two-Michelin-starred restaurant to the fishing village of Port Isaac, just down the road from Rooke Cottages. Formerly he was based at the St Enodoc Hotel in nearby Rock, but now you will be able to enjoy panoramic views across the bay. Port Isaac is also home to one of the chef’s other Michelin starred restaurants, Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen.

So much yummy food! This area of North Cornwall is renowned for its quality local produce, and the choice just keeps on growing. Be sure to book your visit.
