Christmas in Cornwall 14 / 11 / 2013

Luxury cottages with open fires

We are now well into November and the the days are getting chilly. The farm is looking beautiful with autumn hues and golden light streaming through our cottages. We still have vacancies for Christmas breaks and New Year holidays, dates are flexible and available to view online. All the farm cottages have wood burners and nothing beats curling up by a crackling fire after a coastal walk or a spot of site seeing. Our cottages suit many different sized parties so do check to see what is available. The cottages are gearing up for Christmas and the decoration boxes coming out from the loft!

Around the farm it is a time of preparation. The chickens have been relocated to a bigger enclosure which they love! The rams have just gone in with the sheep, and we expect our first lambs around the beginning of April!

Market at the Padstow Christmas Festival

All the cottage gardens are having a prune and being ‘put to bed’ for the winter. But don’t think that all of the excitement around here is just reserved for the summer, in Cornwall there is so much to do. Just down the road is the Padstow Christmas Festival. Definitely worth visiting if you love good food. There are appearances and live demonstrations from many famous chefs, craft markets, a santa race, and my favourite bit – tasters!

Local produce at Padstow Christmas market

As the evenings drawn in, communities come together and there are plenty of Christmas markets or events to visit, there is skating at the Eden Project, or enjoy the light parades through the towns, Truro’s City of Lights is quite beautiful or Christmas at the Showground, a brand new market in the Pavilions at the Royal Cornwall Showground, hosted by Kernow Chocolate, yum yum…
