Catch the Autumn Surf 30 / 9 / 2014

Girl surfing

Autumn is actually one of the best times of the year to try out surfing. The beaches are calmer and the water is still quite warm. The sun has been warming it nicely through the summer, and this year was a really lovely one here in Cornwall! If you are a little temperature shy you can hire a Winter wetsuit to keep you toasty out on the waves.

The easterly winds are blowing this time of year which keeps the surf clean and actually easier to ride. If you are a beginner there are loads of surf schools that can give you one to one tuition or group lessons to help you feel safe on the waves. The key thing is to get out there and just have some fun. Cornwall has the most beautiful scenery and what better way to experience this than bobbing on a board?

Near us we have Polzeath which is a really safe beach with great surfing, but the Cornish coast is full of surf friendly beaches to explore. If you are a beginner take instruction and don’t go out of your depth, but most of all have fun!
